This series is, at its core, an exploration of light.
I am fascinated by how light shapes a painting, for me, it’s the single most important element.
I began experimenting with this idea of how light behaves with a single subject. The subject remained constant in every image : an old telephone on a table. The only variable I changed was the light.
What emerged was extraordinary. Each image felt completely different, purely because of the lighting, from candlelight to sunlight, lamplight, morning light, chiaroscuro, and even cinematic lighting. These shifts in illumination transformed the mood, the atmosphere, and the story the telephone seemed to tell.
These paintings are still a work in progress. Soon, they will move into full colour, further revealing the unique qualities and emotional depth that different kinds of light can bring.
