The Commission Process
1. Consultation
Every commission begins with a conversation. Together, we’ll discuss subject, size, composition, and mood to ensure the painting reflects your vision.
2. Concept & Proposal
You’ll receive a preliminary sketch or digital mockup for review, along with a detailed quote and timeline.
3. Creation
The painting unfolds through the classical process: under-drawing, under-painting and layers of translucent glazes that bring luminosity and depth.
4. Review & Approval
You’ll receive progress updates and images throughout, with opportunities for feedback before final varnish.
5. Delivery
Each painting is professionally varnished, signed, and framed (if desired), then shipped internationally with full insurance and care instructions.
Owning a Painting by Toby Boothman
Commissioning a painting is more than an acquisition — it’s a dialogue with history. Every piece is crafted using techniques passed down through centuries, materials chosen for permanence, and a sensitivity to light that defines Old Master painting.
Your finished work will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and care guidance for generations to come.
